David Malcolm,
Partner
David is a principal and co-founder in Lanigan, Ryan, Malcolm & Doyle, P.C. He has worked in public accounting his entire career of over thirty years. He is considered our resident expert on taxes for both businesses and individuals. He is also our firm’s Quality Control Shareholder.
Experience
Dave has provided services to many business owners and leaders during his career. The work he has performed includes income tax planning and preparation for business and individuals, accounting and consulting services, reporting and accounting system design and installation. He has extensive income tax experience through his work with corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations, trusts, estates and numerous individual clients. Dave also has experience in a variety of industries including, construction contractors, not-for-profit organizations, professional service corporations, real estate, pension plan administration services and litigation support services. He has also given seminars for various groups.
Education
Dave received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1976. He is a licensed CPA in Virginia and Maryland.
Professional Associations
Dave is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Virginia Society of CPAs and the Maryland Association of CPAs. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors and as the Treasurer of the Associated Builders & Contractors Virginia Chapter for 17 years. He chairs the budget and finance committee and served on the program and golf committees for nine years, including two years as chairman. He received the “Distinguished Member of the Year” award for 1992. He is a member of the Virginia Tech Department of Accounting and Information Systems Advisory Board. He was the Associated Builders & Contractors National Treasurer and a trustee for the National Association’s pension plan for 2000 and 2001. He served on the Associated Builders & Contractors national budget and finance committee for seven years. He was also a member of the AICPA Tax Division’s Employee Benefits Taxation Committee that prepared the “401(k) Plan Practice Guide” and update.

When Dave isn’t helping clients develop their business, you’ll find him watching Tech football games or participating in sporting events. He hasn’t met a sport that he doesn’t like. |
